Long Weld Neck
A Long Weld Neck (LWN) flange is a specialized type of flange distinguished by its long, extended neck or hub. This extended neck acts as a boring extension and is primarily used as a nozzle connection on pressure vessels, barrels, or columns. The primary advantage of the LWN flange is that it moves the weld area further away from the main flange ring, reducing stress concentrations at the base and providing a robust connection ideal for high-pressure, high-temperature, or other severe service conditions. Its sturdy construction ensures excellent performance in applications requiring high structural integrity.
