Spectacle Blind & Fig-8 Flanges Spacer & Padle
A spectacle blind flange, also known as a figure-8 blind, is a specialized piping component used to positively isolate a section of a line or piece of equipment. It consists of two metal discs attached by a small steel web. One disc is a solid plate (the blind or blank), and the other is an open ring (the spacer). When the blind side is installed between two pipe flanges, it completely stops the flow. When the spacer side is installed, it allows for normal, unrestricted flow. This design provides a clear visual confirmation of whether the line is open or closed, making it a critical safety device for maintenance and shutdown operations.
